Patient Information

Chaperoning

We understand that some patients may wish to have someone accompany them during their assessment and treatment. We welcome any support required to make you feel comfortable.

  • Children under 16: Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of their treatment session.

  • Parents with young children: If childcare is unavailable, you are welcome to bring your young child along to your appointment.

Consent

At the start of your treatment, we will ask you to sign a consent form. Additional consent forms may be required for specific procedures such as acupuncture.

  • Informed consent: Ensuring you understand and agree to your treatment plan is crucial, and this will be documented in your notes.

  • We encourage open communication between patients and therapists, and all discussions are treated with strict confidentiality.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

  • Initial Discussion: Your therapist will ask about your problem, its history, symptoms, and triggers.

  • Additional Information: Please bring along any relevant scans, x-ray reports, or a list of medications you are taking, even if they don’t seem directly related to your condition.

  • Assessment: You may be asked to remove some clothing to allow the therapist to assess the affected area. If preferred, bring a vest or shorts to change into for your comfort.

  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Your therapist will discuss their findings and provide a diagnosis, followed by initial treatment and advice for managing your condition at home before your next session.

Do I Need a Doctor’s Referral?

  • No referral is necessary for self-funding patients. You can book an appointment directly online or by phone.

  • If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy is right for you, consult your GP or call the clinic to speak with a therapist.

  • Insurance patients: Some medical insurance companies require a GP or consultant referral before physiotherapy treatment. Check your insurance plan and confirm requirements with your provider.
